Hello, My name is Megan Dudley Trotter. I am John’s youngest daughter. I have known about this special broadcast you shared in honor of my dad for awhile now but haven’t had the heart to listen completely yet until this morning. I just had to tell you thank you. Thank you for your kind and beautiful comments about my father and thank you for being a friend to him.
My dad is my hero. A part of me died with him, and the part that has survived is broken and hurting but living and finding joy ever so slowly because of the truths my dad taught me. He shared Jesus with me every single day of my life, at every opportunity we had together. His go to verse to share with me when my fears crept in and I didn’t understand life’s circumstances were Romans 8:28 followed by Jeremiah 33:3. I do not understand Gods plan for taking my dad home (too soon in my finite minded opinion), but my dad taught me to trust even when. Even when life is so hard you feel like you can’t breathe… which it has been every single second since I watched my dads heart stop. But his faithfulness to Christ will inspire me to keep going daily and to search and learn Christ the way he did.
I want your listeners to know my dad never lost faith. When he couldn’t breathe without supplemental oxygen, he never lost faith. When he got home only to have to go back to the hospital, he never lost faith. The day before his body died, he was sitting in the hospital bed staying caught up on his Bible reading. He never lost hope, he never stopped praising Jesus. I am blessed with beautiful memories of a dinner time blessing he didn’t know I could hear reminding me so much of a Psalm of David because even more so toward the end of his time on earth, his love and respect for Jesus grew more than I knew it could. I am blessed with memories of mother reading the Bible to my father when he was sick and them studying scripture together. Precious precious memories of his last days on this earth have become constant reminders of my dads love of the truth and love of God. He praised Jesus through every single storm and I have learned so much from him.
Thank you again for remembering him. He is truly a man worth remembering and I feel honored to be a part of him.
