Remember Donald Trump’s primary run in 2016? We might have an interesting surprise in 2024. Which might be, like 2016, a bunch of Republicans thinking they can take on the Orange Man. As of today, Dec. 27, 2022, who appears to be playing footsie with a run against Trump in 2024? Whoever takes that chance will have to declare pretty soon. None have so far. They have good reason to be worried at what Trump might do to a whole field after what he did to a field of 16 challengers in 2016. Mike Pence clearly looks like he’s playing footsie. So, of course, is De Santis. A fun dynamic in 2023 and 2024 that wasn’t present in 2015 and 2016 is that now there is the huge MAGA movement. Whoever tries challenging President Trump this time will find out what it feels like to have to run against the MAGA movement in addition to the guy who plowed through 16 challengers in 2016 without breaking a sweat.
