Whatever happened to good and patriotic TV shows? Tonight, June 10, 2019, on the Trump Phenomenon we’re remembering James Arness, star of Gunsmoke. All of us, I mean ALL of us kids from the 1950’s and 1960’s grew up on Gunsmoke. James Arness’s sons Craig and Rolf were my classmates in school! Dragnet was a good show. It’s co-star Harry Morgan’s kids, Paul and Danny, were twins in my class too at Paul Revere Junior High and Palisades High School. What happened to The Beverly Hillbillies show? It’s star Buddy Ebsen helped his sister teach us Pacific Palisades kids to dance at “cotillion”. What happened to The Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, and Hopalong Cassidy? All of these shows were hugely popular. There was a widespread “massacre” of shows like Buddy Ebsen’s and James Arness’s which were cancelled by the sleazebags who had taken over Hollywood. They were cancelled BECAUSE they were wholesome, BECAUSE they were pro-American and patriotic.
