I guess that tonight, May 9, 2019, turned into Michael Medved Reminiscences night. You may find interesting the different paths that Medved and Kelso took after the start of their political curiosity as buddies, quiz team and debate team members, and Palisades High School brainiacs. Medved would become one of the founding fathers of neoconservatism, and a hugely successful national radio host. Kelso, with a much better radio show, would become a microscopically small radio host. Oddly enough, Medved, who started politically as a left-winger, actually credits Kelso, in two of his books, “What Really Happened to the Class of 65” and his autobiography “Right Turns”, with being the person who sparked Medved’s migration from left-winger to what Medved thinks of as a right-winger. But Medved’s brand of conservatism has from the start been “neo-conservatism”. And it is neo-conservatism that Donald Trump had to defeat among soi-disant “Republican conservatives” in 2015 and 2016. Medved was utterly opposed to candidate Donald Trump, bashing Trump incessantly on his “huuge” national radio show at the very time that Kelso was incessantly cheerleading for the man I am convinced is the greatest American leader in our entire history. Small world. There’s zero likelihood of it happening, but it would be a hoot for listeners to hear a one-hour verbal cage match between former high school (and after) buddies Kelso and Medved.
